What the holiday taught me!

Holiday seasons are the best and the worst. Best, as they bring cheer and joy. Worst because any last-minute plans tend to be disastrous. Something like that happened with us. Last minute accommodations mean, you get the least favorable rooms and places. You get what's leftover.
It wasn’t surprising many of the families in our resort were just like us. They realized (as we did) that they needed to go on a holiday, just a day before the holidays!(Did you just roll your eyes? Then you understand me.) This ensues last minute scramble to book anything that is available.
Fast forward, we check-in, lo and behold the holiday spirits plummet. Everyone is complaining (me the loudest) about the rooms, the service, the quality, the food, everything seems to be going wrong.
Why am I rambling about all this? Well, it just made me realize, this is what we do with life, don’t we?
We don’t anticipate the future or what we can do to ensure our actions/plans today will bring us delight in the future.
I am not talking about the future in terms of our living condition/situations but the future US. Our mind and body, our energies or rather our reactions to the situations. I could have had a memorable & joyous holiday by taking my emotions and reactions in stride. I could have been in complete control of my moods, but isn’t it easier to look at the negative side, blame others and COMPLAIN? It is easier to do that but the amount of negativity we immediately attract to our mind and energy (I like to call it energy and not soul, for some reason soul sounds like matter to me just like body). Had I only reacted with gratitude for at least finding a place at the last moment to enjoy some relaxing family time I think my spirits would have lifted and I would have remembered this entire 3-days experience in a very different light.
Looking at this experience made me delve through my memories and illuminated the fact that all my bad memories needn’t have been bad, had I only reacted to them differently! So, I realized two very important things that day
1. You can create amazing memories just based on YOUR decision on how you react to the situation.
2. Plan your vacations in advance! (Are you kidding me? How can you not react to poor service? :D)
